Humankind is a turn-based historical strategy game developed by Amplitude Studios, the French team behind Endless Space 2 and Endless Legend 2. It released on August 17, 2021, on PC and Mac. You lead a people from a Neolithic tribe to the Modern Age, and at each new era you pick a new culture, such as Babylonians, Mayans, Umayyads or British, to add its bonuses and emblematic units to your civilization.
Each culture you adopt stacks a new gameplay layer, so no two empires grow the same way. Victory comes through Fame, a score you earn from great deeds, scientific breakthroughs, wonders, moral choices and battles won. Combat plays out as a tactical, turn-based board game on the world map itself: armies unstack into individual units, and you can lay siege to cities and bring in reinforcements over several turns. You can play solo against AI rivals or online against other players, and a map editor lets you build custom worlds.
Humankind suits 4X fans who like flexible, culture-mixing empire building. A Humankind CD key gives you the base game, and culture packs and expansions are sold separately as DLC.
