Indika is a third-person, story-driven adventure developed by Odd Meter, an independent studio formerly based in Moscow and now operating out of Kazakhstan. It is published by 11 bit studios, the Polish publisher behind Frostpunk 2, and launched on May 2, 2024. The game follows Indika, a young nun who struggles with monotonous monastery life and hears the voice of the devil. That unlikely connection sends her on an errand beyond the monastery walls and into a strange, distorted version of Russia.
Gameplay mixes exploration, environmental puzzle solving and long conversations between Indika and her horned companion. Her troubled past appears in short 2D pixel art mini-games that contrast with the realistic 3D world. The writing blends comedy and tragedy and openly questions faith, religion and authority, a tone the developers compare to the novels of Dostoevsky and Bulgakov.
Indika holds a Metacritic score of 80 and suits players who prefer short, auteur-style narrative games over action-heavy adventures. An Indika CD key is often the cheapest way to add it to your library, and an artbook and soundtrack are available as separate DLC.
