Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a kart racing game developed and published by Nintendo. It was released on April 28, 2017 for Nintendo Switch as an expanded version of the 2014 Wii U game Mario Kart 8.
Races pit Mario, his friends, and rivals against each other on courses that twist across walls and ceilings thanks to anti-gravity sections. You drift for speed boosts, grab items such as shells and bananas, and build your own kart, bike, or ATV from bodies, wheels, and gliders.
The Deluxe release includes all 48 courses from the original game and its DLC, plus new characters such as the Inklings, King Boo, Bowser Jr., and Dry Bones. Battle mode returns with eight dedicated arenas. Optional smart steering and auto-accelerate help younger or newer players stay on track, and 200cc is available for experts.
Up to four players can race in split-screen on one console, up to eight can connect over local wireless, and up to 12 can race online. Online play requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
It suits families, party groups, and competitive racers who want a deep, easy-to-learn kart game.
Activation: Digital codes are redeemed on the Nintendo eShop. Match the code region to your Nintendo Account region.
Booster Course Pass: This paid DLC adds 48 more remastered courses for 96 in total, and it requires the base game.
Switch 2: The Switch version also runs on Nintendo Switch 2 through backward compatibility.
