Matchpoint - Tennis Championships is a tennis simulation developed by Australian studio Torus Games and published by Kalypso Media. It launched on July 7, 2022 and puts the focus on tactical realism: positioning, aiming and choosing the right stroke matter more than raw speed. Top spin, flat, lob and slice shots each have their place, and authentic ball physics and detailed animations aim to reproduce the rhythm of a real rally.
The core of the game is a career mode with a merit-based ranking system. You create your own player, choose left- or right-handed play and a one- or two-handed backhand, and unlock gear by winning matches. A rivalry system lets you study opponents' strengths and weaknesses, and a personal coach with training modules helps you work on yours. The roster includes 16 real pros, among them Nick Kyrgios, Kei Nishikori and Amanda Anisimova, with gear from brands like Nike, Yonex and Babolat. Courts span grass, clay and hard surfaces.
Exhibition matches, practice and mini-games round out the offline content, while local split-screen and online cross-play cover multiplayer. If you enjoy Tennis World Tour 2, this is a slower, more tactical alternative. A Matchpoint - Tennis Championships CD key activates on Steam. The official Steam page lists the Legends DLC and soundtrack.
