Mega Man X Legacy Collection is a compilation from Capcom that gathers the first four games in the Mega Man X series: the 16-bit Mega Man X, X2 and X3, plus the 32-bit Mega Man X4. It released on PC on July 24, 2018. You play as X, the successor to the classic Mega Man, fighting rogue robots called Mavericks. Each defeated boss gives you its weapon, and the dash and wall jump make the action faster than the original Mega Man series.
The collection adds more than the games themselves. X Challenge is a new mode that pits you against two bosses from different games at the same time, which forces you to manage weapons and movement under pressure. A museum section holds production art, catalogs of classic merchandise and a playlist of old commercials. Steam leaderboards and achievements are included, and the collection supports full controller play.
It suits retro platformer fans, speedrunners and anyone who wants to start the X saga from the beginning. Players who enjoy other Capcom retro packages such as Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will find a similar archival approach here. A Mega Man X Legacy Collection CD key unlocks all four games on Steam. The official Steam page has trailers and screenshots; X5 to X8 are sold separately as Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2.
