Might and Magic: Heroes VI is a turn-based strategy game with RPG elements, developed by Black Hole Entertainment and published by Ubisoft for PC on October 13, 2011. It is the sixth main entry in the long-running Heroes of Might and Magic series.
Each turn you move heroes across an adventure map, capture towns and mines, collect resources, and recruit creatures. When armies meet, the game switches to tactical battles on a grid, where unit placement, abilities, and hero spells decide the outcome.
Heroes VI streamlines the classic economy to four resources: gold, wood, ore, and crystals. Its area-of-control system ties mines to nearby towns and forts, so holding key strongholds matters more than chasing individual mines. The Blood and Tears reputation system shapes each hero’s abilities based on the choices you make.
The story is set in the world of Ashan, centuries before Heroes V, and follows the Griffin dynasty as an Archangel plots to restart an ancient war. You can play campaigns for five factions: Haven, Inferno, Necropolis, Sanctuary, and Stronghold, plus skirmish maps and local hotseat matches.
It suits fans of classic turn-based strategy who enjoy building armies, developing heroes, and planning long campaigns.
Activation: PC keys are usually for Steam, and the game also requires a Ubisoft account through Ubisoft Connect.
Editions: The Complete Edition bundles the base game with later add-ons, including Shades of Darkness.
Online features: Ubisoft retired some online services for older titles in January 2024. Single-player and hotseat play remain available.
