Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is a 2.5D puzzle platformer developed by Just Add Water and published by Oddworld Inhabitants. It is a ground-up remake of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee from 1997. It first launched on PlayStation 4 in July 2014, reached PC in February 2015, and is also available on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
You play Abe, a Mudokon worker at RuptureFarms, a meat-processing plant run by the Glukkon Molluck. When Abe learns his own people are next on the menu, he escapes and sets out to free as many fellow Mudokons as he can while fleeing through a hostile world.
Abe cannot fight directly. Instead you use timing, stealth and GameSpeak, a simple set of voice commands that lets you talk to other Mudokons and lead them to safety. Abe can also chant to possess Slig guards and turn their guns on enemies. The remake adds rebuilt visuals, a scrolling camera, quicksave and difficulty options, while keeping the story, characters and dark humor that made Abe's Oddysee a cult favorite.
New 'n' Tasty is single-player and story-driven, with an ending that depends on how many Mudokons you rescue. It suits fans of classic puzzle platformers and anyone curious about where the Oddworld series began. Puzzles reward patience and careful timing more than fast reflexes.
