RAD is a 3D action rogue-like developed by Double Fine Productions, the studio behind Psychonauts and Brutal Legend, and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It released on August 19, 2019, for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The setting is a post-post-apocalyptic world where humanity has survived armageddon twice, and you play a teenager sent out to save what remains.
Each run takes you into the Fallow, an ever-changing radioactive wasteland full of hostile creatures. Your main tool is a baseball bat, but the radiation you absorb mutates your body and grants new abilities. Mutations shape every run, so no two attempts play the same way, and death sends you back to start again with new layouts. The game is single-player and supports full controller play on PC.
RAD fits players who enjoy short, replayable action runs with a strong visual identity. A RAD CD key activates the game on Steam; if Double Fine's style appeals to you, Psychonauts 2 is worth a look too. Learn more on the official RAD website.
