Shakedown: Hawaii is an open-world action-adventure game developed and published by Vblank Entertainment. It first launched on May 7, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and Nintendo Switch, followed by a PlayStation 5 version in December 2020 and releases on several other systems. Vblank is also known for Retro City Rampage, and this game builds on a similar top-down style.
Played from a top-down view with 16-bit style pixel art, the game follows three main characters as they try to rebuild Feeble Multinational, a struggling Hawaii-based conglomerate. Their methods are anything but honest, and the tone is openly satirical.
Outside story missions, you can free-roam the island, extort local businesses, steal cars, buy clothing, and use a wide range of weapons. Over 200 buildings can be entered, and much of the environment can be destroyed.
A real estate system lets you buy property in a market where prices change, building passive income for the company. Buying up the island is a core part of rebuilding the business. Arcade-style challenges and mini-games add extra goals between story missions.
Shakedown: Hawaii is single-player only. It suits fans of classic top-down crime games and satire, and players who enjoy compact open worlds full of side activities. Free-roam activities let you set your own pace between story missions.
PC: PC keys usually activate on Steam. The game runs on very old hardware and needs about 150 MB of storage.
Consoles: PS5, PS4, and Switch codes are redeemed on PlayStation Network or the Nintendo eShop.
Language: The game is offered in English only.
