Sherlock Holmes The Awakened is a detective adventure from Frogwares that pits the world's most rational detective against the Cthulhu Mythos of H.P. Lovecraft. Released on April 11, 2023, it reimagines the studio's 2008 game of the same name. Frogwares rebuilt it from the ground up in Unreal Engine with modern graphics and animations, an expanded storyline, new side quests and new mechanics.
The story is set in 1882, when Sherlock and John Watson are still just roommates. A string of mysterious disappearances points to a cult that worships an ancient god, and the trail leads from Baker Street in London to a psychiatric ward in Switzerland and the Louisiana wetlands. You examine crime scenes, collect clues and piece together deductions, while a new insanity system shows Sherlock's grip on reason slipping as he faces something logic cannot explain. Frogwares frames it as the one case Watson never published.
The Awakened suits players who like methodical investigation with a horror edge. It follows the studio's open-world prequel Sherlock Holmes Chapter One and continues young Sherlock's story.
