Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is the remastered version of United Front Games' 2012 open-world action adventure, published by Square Enix. It launched in October 2014 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a macOS version later ported by Feral Interactive. The remaster reworks the visuals and audio and folds in all 24 previously released DLC packs, including the story episode Year of the Snake and the horror-themed Nightmare in North Point.
You play Wei Shen, an undercover police officer who returns to Hong Kong to bring down the Triads from the inside. The story is a gritty crime drama where a wrong decision can blow your cover. Moment to moment, the game mixes a martial arts combat system built on counters and environmental takedowns with gunfights, car chases, street races and speedboat runs. Between missions, the city offers side activities such as karaoke, gambling and illegal racing. If you like chaotic open-world action from the same publisher, Just Cause 3 makes a good companion pick.
