Songs of Conquest is a turn-based strategy adventure developed by Swedish studio Lavapotion and published by Coffee Stain Publishing. After a stretch in Early Access, version 1.0 launched on May 20, 2024 for Windows and macOS. Its pixel-art fantasy world of Aerbor and its mix of adventure map, town building and hex-based combat place it close to the classic Heroes formula, so fans of Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will feel at home.
You lead powerful magicians called Wielders who explore maps, hunt artifacts, gather resources and capture territory. Back home, you plan towns to suit your army and research upgrades. Battles are turn-based tactical fights where troop abilities combine with spells, and sieges add another layer. Four factions are at war: the knightly Arleon, the swamp tribes of Rana, the necromancers of Loth and the mercenary inventors of Barya. Each faction has a choral campaign where a bard's song gains new verses as you clear missions. Beyond the campaigns, you get handcrafted and randomized maps, Conquest and Challenge maps, and an in-game map editor.
