Sonic Origins is a compilation of four classic Sonic the Hedgehog games, developed by Sonic Team and published by SEGA in June 2022 for PC and consoles. The package includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD, each remastered in high definition with new animated opening and ending sequences.
Each game runs in two styles. Classic Mode keeps the original 4:3 resolution and limited lives, while Anniversary Mode switches to widescreen HD and removes the lives counter so newer players can finish every zone. On top of the main games you unlock Mirror Mode, missions, special stages, a music player, animated shorts and a museum of behind-the-scenes material.
The Sonic Origins Plus Expansion Pack, sold as DLC, adds 12 Game Gear titles such as Sonic Chaos, Sonic Triple Trouble and Tails Adventure, makes Amy Rose playable across all four main games and adds Knuckles to Sonic CD. Fans who enjoyed the pixel-art tribute Sonic Mania will find the source material here. Buying a Sonic Origins CD key is one of the cheapest ways to own the full 16-bit era in one launcher.
