Spider-Man: Far From Home – Virtual Reality Experience is a free, promotional VR title developed by CreateVR and published by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR), released June 25, 2019, roughly a week ahead of the film's U.S. theatrical debut on July 2. Building directly on the earlier, more limited Spider-Man: Homecoming VR tie-in, this sequel experience marked the first time players could genuinely web-swing through an "open" virtual recreation of Manhattan, letting them scale and glide between the city's highest towers rather than being confined to scripted sequences.
The experience opens with Peter Parker relaxing in his room before being called by his friend Ned to suit up and swing through New York to complete a series of errands, eventually leading to a confrontation with a mysterious, colossal enemy. Players select from one of four Spider-Man suits before being launched into the city, using an intuitive two-handed control scheme: aiming one controller at a building, pulling the trigger to fire a web-line, then physically pulling themselves toward it to swing forward, a system praised as the first truly functional VR web-swinging mechanic. Beyond the roughly 15–20 minute Story Mode, the experience also includes a Free Play mode that lets players swing around New York indefinitely without objectives, and options like a narrowed field-of-view "keyhole" comfort setting to reduce motion sickness during flight sequences. Reviewers noted that while the visuals resembled "PS2-era" simplicity, especially on PSVR with its more limited 180-degree tracking and Move controllers, the core swinging gameplay made it "the best place to web-swing in VR" at the time. Buyers or collectors researching this title should note it has since been delisted from all digital stores, including Steam, the Oculus Store, and PlayStation Store, due to licensing expiration, meaning it can no longer be legitimately purchased or downloaded.
