Star Ocean: The Last Hope is a science-fiction action RPG developed by tri-Ace and published by Square Enix. It first appeared on Xbox 360 in 2009, and the 4K & Full HD Remaster arrived on PC and PlayStation 4 on November 28, 2017. Although it is the fourth main game in the series, its story sits at the very beginning of the Star Ocean timeline.
After World War III leaves Earth devastated, humanity turns to space in search of a new home. You follow Edge Maverick and the crew of the SRF-003 Calnus as they explore unknown planets, meet alien races and uncover a threat to all of creation. Battles play out in real time: you control one party member directly while the others fight alongside you, with blindside attacks and combos rewarding good positioning.
The remaster adds sharper 4K and Full HD visuals, and the PC version supports adjustable difficulty, save-anywhere and full controller support. Series fans can follow the timeline forward to the newer Star Ocean The Divine Force. A cheap Star Ocean: The Last Hope CD key is an easy entry point into the franchise.
