Still Wakes the Deep is a first-person narrative horror game from The Chinese Room, the studio behind Dear Esther, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. Published by Secret Mode, it released on June 18, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It won three BAFTA Games Awards, including Best New IP.
The year is 1975. A storm hits the Beira D oil rig off the coast of Scotland, communications go dead and something unknown comes aboard. You play an offshore worker with no weapons and no powers. Survival depends on running, climbing, hiding and swimming through flooding corridors and storm-lashed decks while you search for your crewmates. A cast of Scottish actors, including BAFTA winners Alec Newman and Karen Dunbar, carries the story, with music by Jason Graves.
Updates added Chapter Select, a toggle for yellow guide markers, a Silver Screen filter and an optional Story Mode that reduces the threat. The Siren's Rest expansion, released in June 2025, returns to the site in 1986 with a specialist dive team. A Still Wakes the Deep CD key suits players who prefer atmosphere and story over combat.
