Stronghold: Warlords is a real-time strategy and castle-building game developed and published by Firefly Studios. It released on March 9, 2021 for Windows PC and is the first Stronghold game set in East Asia.
As in earlier Stronghold games, you build a working castle economy, gather resources, feed your people, and turn that economy into an army. You then defend your walls or lay siege to fortified Chinese cities and Japanese castles with new gunpowder-powered siege weapons and units such as imperial fire lancers.
The standout system is the Warlords mechanic. Neutral AI lords sit across each map, and you can conquer them through force or diplomacy. Once they serve you, they send resources, build defenses, forge weapons, or join attacks, and you can upgrade their abilities over time.
Content is broad for a strategy game. There are 31 campaign missions covering 3rd century BC China, the rise of the Tokugawa shogunate, and the Mongol Empire, plus 45 skirmish trail scenarios, 28 multiplayer maps, and a Free Build sandbox with optional AI invasions. Online multiplayer supports both versus and co-op play.
Stronghold: Warlords suits players who like slow-building castle sims with heavy sieges, and anyone curious about an East Asian setting for the series. Its campaigns also work as a gentle introduction for newcomers.
PC only: The game is released for Windows PC, and keys activate on Steam. There is no console version.

Campaign DLC: Extra campaigns such as The Mongol Empire and Rise of the Shogun are sold separately and require the base game.
