Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a 2D side-scrolling platformer developed and published by Nintendo. It was released on October 20, 2023 for Nintendo Switch. A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with extra content, called Meetup in Bellabel Park, followed on March 26, 2026.
The adventure moves away from the Mushroom Kingdom to the Flower Kingdom, where Prince Florian asks Mario and friends for help after Bowser causes chaos. You travel across a world map, clear stages, and collect Wonder Seeds to push the story forward.
The key idea is the Wonder Flower. Touching one changes a level on the spot: pipes may start to move, the camera may shift, or the characters may transform into something new. New power-ups include the Elephant, Drill, and Bubble forms. Badges add another layer, giving abilities such as a parachute cap or a higher jump, and you can equip one badge at a time to suit your play style.
Up to four players can play together on one console. Online play with a Nintendo Switch Online membership lets you see other players moving through the same stage and leave helpful standees. The playable cast includes Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, and Nabbit, and some characters do not take damage, which helps younger players.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder suits families, local co-op groups, and fans of classic 2D Mario who want fresh ideas in every stage.
Switch: The original Switch version also plays on Switch 2. Digital codes are redeemed on the Nintendo eShop.
Switch 2 Edition: The Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park adds new multiplayer content. An upgrade pack is sold for owners of the Switch version.
