System Shock is a first-person action-adventure game and a full remake of the groundbreaking 1994 original. It was developed by Nightdive Studios and released on PC on May 30, 2023, with Atari and Nightdive listed as publishers. The remake keeps the original's design but adds all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface, and new sound and music. Terri Brosius returns as the voice of SHODAN.
The setting is Citadel Station, where the rogue AI SHODAN has taken control and turned the crew into cyborgs and mutants. Her next target is Earth. You explore the station at your own pace in a non-linear structure, scavenging weapons and gear, upgrading your abilities, and piecing the story together through logs. You can also jack into cyberspace to hack systems and open new routes.
