The Dark Eye: Memoria is a point-and-click adventure game developed and published by Daedalic Entertainment. It was released on August 29, 2013 for Windows PC and macOS, and it is set in Aventuria, the fantasy world of The Dark Eye tabletop RPG.
The game follows two heroes who live more than 450 years apart. Geron, a bird catcher, wants to break the curse that turned his love Nuri into a crow. To get help from a mysterious merchant, he must solve a puzzle from the merchant's dreams.
That puzzle leads to the story of Sadja, a southern princess who joins a war of mages in the desert because she wants to become a legendary hero. Over eight chapters, you switch between the two timelines as their stories slowly connect.
Classic inventory and dialogue puzzles are combined with magic spells, so many problems can be solved by casting the right power on an object. Sadja also carries a talking staff with a sharp wit, and puzzle design changes from chapter to chapter.
Memoria is a direct follow-up to Chains of Satinav, though it explains enough for new players. It suits fans of story-driven adventures with hand-drawn art, full voice acting, and thoughtful puzzles.
PC and Mac: Keys activate on Steam and include both the Windows and macOS versions. About 10 GB of storage is needed.
Series order: Memoria continues the story of Geron from The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav. Playing that game first adds context but is not required.
