The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is a cinematic horror adventure developed by Supermassive Games and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It released in August 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with later versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
It is the first game in The Dark Pictures Anthology, a series of standalone horror stories. Five friends set out on a holiday diving trip in the South Pacific, but a storm and a group of pirates leave them trapped on a rusting World War II ghost ship.
Gameplay follows the Supermassive formula. You explore, talk, and make choices, and quick-time events test your reactions in tense moments. Every playable character can live or die, and small decisions can change relationships and the ending.
Multiplayer is a major feature. Shared Story mode lets two players play online together, each controlling different characters, while Movie Night lets up to five players pass the controller locally. The Curator's Cut, unlocked after finishing the story, replays scenes from other characters' viewpoints with new choices.
Man of Medan suits players who enjoy interactive horror films and branching stories, especially groups of friends who like to play and react together.
