What is Thea: The Awakening?

Thea: The Awakening is a turn-based strategy survival game developed by MuHa Games. It was released on PC on November 20, 2015, and later came to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The game is set in a dark fantasy world inspired by Slavic mythology. A force known as The Darkness has swallowed the land, and monsters such as Strigas and Baba Yagas roam freely. There are no heroes left to save the day. Instead, you guide a small group of starving survivors who depend on you to stay alive.

Thea blends several systems into one experience. You manage your village, gather resources, craft equipment, and decide whether to build defenses at home or send expeditions out into the procedurally generated world. A non-linear story unfolds through in-game events, and the choices you make shape both the narrative and your survival.

Combat uses a unique card-based system. Your characters become cards in a tactical battle game, so preparing the right mix of survivors and gear matters as much as the decisions you make during a fight. Conflicts can also be resolved through other challenge types, not just violence.
