Those Who Remain is a first-person psychological horror game developed by Camel 101 and published by Wired Productions. It released on May 28, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and is also available on Nintendo Switch.
You play as Edward, a man who arrives at a motel in the small town of Dormont late at night and soon finds that the darkness is deadly. Creatures wait in every shadow, so the main rule of survival is simple: stay in the light.
Gameplay focuses on exploration and puzzles rather than combat. You switch on lamps and manipulate light sources to clear safe paths through the town. You also move between Dormont and a twisted alternate reality, solving puzzles that link the two worlds.
Moral choices are a key part of the story. You decide whether to condemn or forgive the troubled citizens of Dormont, and these choices lead to multiple endings. The game is single-player and draws on classic supernatural films and TV for its atmosphere.
Those Who Remain suits players who enjoy story-driven horror, light-and-shadow puzzles, and slow-building tension more than action or jump-scare combat. Its focus on choices also gives a reason to replay for other endings.
