Tropico 4 is a city-building and political management game developed by Haemimont Games and published by Kalypso Media. It launched on PC on September 1, 2011, and puts you in the uniform of El Presidente, the ruler of a small island republic. Your job is to build housing, farms, industry and tourism while keeping rebels, superpowers and your own citizens content enough to keep you in office.
This entry expands the series' politics. You appoint citizens to a Council of Ministers to push through controversial policies, receive objectives through the National Agenda, and trade goods with foreign nations to fund your plans. A new campaign spans 20 missions on 10 maps, and six interactive disasters, including volcanoes, droughts and tornadoes, test how well your island recovers. The same studio later built Surviving Mars, so fans of its colony management will recognize the design style.
Tropico 4 suits players who like satirical humor mixed with economic depth. A Tropico 4 CD key activates the game on Steam, where it holds a Metacritic score of 78 and offers 11 DLC packs such as Modern Times, Apocalypse and Propaganda!.
