Valkyrie Elysium is an action role-playing game developed by Soleil and published by Square Enix. It launched on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in September 2022, and the PC version followed on Steam in November 2022. It is the latest entry in the long-running Valkyrie series, moving the franchise to fully real-time, three-dimensional combat.
The story opens as Ragnarok, the End Times, threatens every realm. With the last of his strength, the All-Father Odin creates a Valkyrie whose only task is to save the doomed world. Combat centers on speed and combos: the Soul Chain lets you zip across the battlefield, the Arts Gauge fills as you keep attacks flowing, and spending it triggers powerful Divine Arts. You can also summon Einherjar, warrior spirits who fight beside you and grant elemental bonuses. Weapons, skills and Einherjar can all be upgraded to fit your style, and series veteran Motoi Sakuraba composed the soundtrack.
It suits players who want a focused, single-player action RPG with a Norse mythology setting.
