Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War is a turn-based 4X strategy game developed by Proxy Studios and published by Slitherine. Released on July 12, 2018, it was the first 4X game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The setting is Gladius Prime, a colony world where ancient relics awakened a horror from the past and turned a peaceful planet into a warzone.
You pick one of four base factions: Space Marines, Astra Militarum, Orks or Necrons. Each has its own playstyle, tech tree and storyline. You explore a randomly generated map full of hostile wildlife, claim ancient artefacts, build cities and fortifications, harvest resources and research upgrades. Hero units gain ranks and equip items, from grenades to powerful relics. Multiplayer covers online and LAN PvP plus co-op, and Steam Workshop adds community content. It holds a Metacritic score of 71 and has more than 20 DLC packs, including new factions.
A Warhammer 40,000: Gladius CD key suits players who like Civilization-style empire building with grimdark armies. If you prefer tactical battles, also look at Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector, another Slitherine release.
