Wartales is an open world RPG with turn-based tactical combat, developed and published by Shiro Games, the French studio behind Northgard. It left early access with its full release on April 12, 2023. The story is set a century after a plague brought down the Edoran Empire, leaving a land full of bandits, mercenary work and very little honor.
You are not a chosen hero. You lead a company of mercenaries trying to survive and get rich. Each recruit has a specialization, weapon preferences and personality, and you shape them through RPG progression, crafting and equipment. Your camp needs food, tools and comforts so the crew can recover. On the road, you collect bounties, take contracts, explore mines and ancient tombs, and fight tactical battles where positioning and team composition matter.
Online co-op supports up to four players who share money, loot and resources. Several paid expansions, such as Pirates of Belerion and The Skelmar Invasion, add new regions and content. A Wartales CD key is a good fit for players who enjoy Battle Brothers-style mercenary management with deeper RPG systems.
News and patch notes are on the official Wartales website.
