What is Xuan-Yuan Sword VII?

Xuan-Yuan Sword VII is a third-person action RPG developed by Softstar with DOMO Studio and released on PC on October 28, 2020. It is the latest main entry in a Taiwanese RPG series that dates back decades, and it moves the series to real-time action combat with a story drawn from Chinese history and myth.

You play as Taishi Zhao, a swordsman whose family was killed in a mysterious fire ten years earlier, on the night a prophetic bamboo slip disappeared. Set in the chaotic years after the fall of the Western Han Dynasty, the story follows Taishi as he tries to protect his remaining family and uncover the truth behind that night. Combat is built on combos, active skills, dodges, blocks and ripostes. The Elysium Scroll adds a second layer: it can slow time around Taishi, absorb defeated monsters and use them in the Fusion Lab to craft new monsters, items and passive skills.
