Yooka-Laylee is a 3D collect-a-thon platformer developed by Playtonic Games and released on April 11, 2017. Playtonic was founded by former Rare developers, and the game is a spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie style of platformer, complete with a soundtrack by David Wise and Grant Kirkhope.
You control Yooka, a green chameleon, and Laylee, a wisecracking bat, as they try to stop Capital B from absorbing all the world's books and turning them into profit. The loop centers on Pagies, golden collectibles that unlock new worlds or expand existing ones into larger, more complex areas. Moves are bought from the snake salesman Trowzer, and Tonics let you tweak your play style. Each world mixes platforming challenges with puzzles, bosses, minecart sections, quiz shows and retro arcade games, and local multiplayer and co-op options are included. The game holds a Metacritic score of 73.
A Yooka-Laylee CD key is a good fit for fans of late-90s 3D platformers, and for anyone who enjoyed remakes such as the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. More details are on the official Yooka-Laylee site.
