A Plague Tale: Innocence is a single-player action-adventure game from French studio Asobo Studio, published by Focus Entertainment and released on PC on May 14, 2019. The year is 1348. The Black Death is spreading across the Kingdom of France, and the Inquisition is hunting a young noblewoman, Amicia de Rune, and her five-year-old brother Hugo, who carries a mysterious illness the Church wants for itself.
The game plays as a linear, chapter-based stealth adventure. Amicia cannot win a straight fight against armored soldiers, so you hide in tall grass, throw objects to create distractions and use her sling to knock out lanterns or hit exposed enemies. Swarms of rats fill the world and avoid light, which turns fire, torches and braziers into puzzle tools: light a path to get through, or extinguish a soldier's torch and let the rats do the rest. Alchemy recipes and a crafting bench add upgrades for the sling, pouches and ammunition types.
The A Plague Tale: Innocence CD key suits players who prefer story-first games with tense stealth over open-world sprawl. It earned a Metacritic score of 81 on PC, and its story continues directly in the sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem. Full details are on the official Steam store page.
Siblings at the Core: Amicia protects Hugo throughout the journey. You can hold his hand, tell him to stay put or send him through gaps she cannot reach, and their bond drives the story.
Light Versus Rats: Thousands of rats swarm through dark areas and flee from fire. Lighting braziers, carrying torches and dousing enemy lanterns turns the swarm into both an obstacle and a weapon.
Sling-Based Stealth: Amicia's sling is her main tool. Use it to break chains, knock down lanterns, distract guards or take down unarmored enemies from cover.
Alchemy and Crafting: Mix ammunition such as Ignifer to light fires and Extinguis to put them out. Collected materials upgrade the sling, pouches and tools at workbenches.
Companion Abilities: Other children join the de Rune siblings, each with skills that help solve puzzles, from picking locks to crafting alchemical tools.
Medieval France, 1348: Villages, battlefields, castles and monasteries recreate a plague-stricken country with a grim, grounded tone.
Collectibles and Upgrades: Curiosities, gifts for Hugo and herbarium flowers reward exploration off the main path and add context to the world.
