Ara: History Untold is a turn-based grand strategy game developed by Oxide Games and published by Xbox Game Studios for PC, released on September 24, 2024. You lead a nation from early history onward and compete with other historical leaders through diplomacy, war and development. Steam now sells it as the Anniversary Edition.
Ara keeps the classic empire-building loop familiar from Civilization VII but changes several systems. A national crafting economy turns raw resources into goods, all players resolve their turns at the same time, and the technology tree is non-linear across twelve eras. There are no preset victory paths, and the map lets you zoom from your empire's borders down to citizens going about their day as they react to war, sickness and prosperity. Cloud-backed multiplayer supports both synchronous and asynchronous games.
