Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a puzzle-platformer for Nintendo Switch, published by Nintendo and released on February 16, 2024. It is a remake of the 2004 Game Boy Advance game of the same name, rebuilt with new graphics, music and cutscenes. The setup is simple: Donkey Kong has stolen the Mini-Mario toys, and Mario has to get them back.
Each level is a compact puzzle. You run, jump and backflip past spikes, moving platforms and falling bricks while working out how to reach the key and the exit, using Color Switches, Warp Boxes and other mechanics that grow more complex over time. There are more than 130 levels, including harder Plus and Expert stages. The remake adds two new worlds, Merry Mini-Land and Slippery Summit, a Time Attack mode, and a Casual Style that removes time limits and adds checkpoints. Classic Style keeps the timers and one-hit defeats of the original.
A local Two-Player Mode lets a second player join as Toad, with an extra objective for the pair. That makes it a good pick for families and for puzzle fans who like short, replayable stages. A Mario vs. Donkey Kong key is a Nintendo eShop code that unlocks the full game. Full details are on the official Nintendo store page. For another Switch-exclusive Mario title, see Mario & Luigi: Brothership.
