Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered is an updated release of LEVEL-5's role-playing game, published by Bandai Namco Entertainment with PC porting work by QLOC. The remaster arrived in September 2019 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, bringing improved graphics and performance to the original PlayStation 3 classic. It holds a Metacritic score of 82 on PC.
You play as Oliver, a boy who travels to a parallel world in the hope of bringing back his mother after a tragic incident. Studio Ghibli storyboarded and animated the cutscenes, and Joe Hisaishi composed the music, giving the game the feel of an animated film. Combat blends real-time movement with turn-based tactical choices, and you can switch freely between characters and familiars, the creatures you capture and raise. Dozens of locations, hundreds of creatures and a long list of side quests fill out the adventure, with English and Japanese voice options.
This is the first game in the series. Once you finish it, the standalone sequel Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom continues the world with a new cast. A Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered CD key is the cheapest route to this Ghibli-styled RPG. Store details are on the official Steam page.
