Oninaki is an action RPG developed by Tokyo RPG Factory and published by Square Enix, released on PC on August 22, 2019. Tokyo RPG Factory also created Lost Sphear, but Oninaki trades menu-driven battles for fast, real-time action. The story takes place in a world built on reincarnation, where grieving for the dead is taboo because it keeps souls from moving on.
You play as Kagachi, a Watcher whose duty is to guide the Lost, souls that cannot pass on, and to keep order between the Living World and the Beyond. Combat is built around the Daemon Battle System: you bind Daemons to Kagachi, each tied to a different weapon and set of skills, and switch between them to match enemy traits. Possessing a Daemon's power raises attack levels, and binding different Daemons lets you customize Kagachi's abilities. You can cross between the Living World and the Beyond, which are drawn in strongly contrasting art styles.
An Oninaki CD key suits JRPG fans who want a story-driven action game with a melancholy tone. Visit the official Oninaki website for more details.
