Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a tactical role-playing game developed and published by SEGA, released in September 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It takes place during the same war as the original Valkyria Chronicles but tells a new story centered on Squad E of the Atlantic Federation. Commander Claude Wallace and his childhood friends push east through blizzards and imperial lines, facing the godlike power of the Valkyria along the way.
Combat runs on the BLiTZ battle system. You plan on an overhead map in turn-based fashion, then take direct control of a unit in third person to move, take cover and aim in real time. This entry adds the Grenadier class with long-range mortar fire, support orders from a land battleship, and a Last Stand action that gives a fallen unit one final move. Maps are larger and hold more units than earlier games. The hand-drawn CANVAS engine gives the game its watercolor look, and series composer Hitoshi Sakimoto returns for the score.
The PC version on Steam is sold as the Complete Edition, which bundles the bonus DLC with the full game. For strategy fans who like story-driven campaigns, a Valkyria Chronicles 4 CD key is a strong value pick. You can review the edition on the official Steam store page.
