Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a 2.5D platformer developed by Playtonic Games and released on October 8, 2019. Where the original Yooka-Laylee was a 3D collect-a-thon, this follow-up shifts to tight side-scrolling stages in the style of Donkey Kong Country, made by some of the same creative talent. Each level you clear frees members of Queen Phoebee's Royal Beetallion, and every rescued bee adds a hit of protection for the final run. Between stages you explore a 3D overworld with its own puzzles, secrets and collectibles. Switches in the overworld change levels into alternate states, flooding, freezing, electrifying or flipping them for new challenges. More than 60 Tonics let you modify the game, from infinite rolling and tougher enemies to visual filters.
